El Universal informa que la Casa Blanca expresó hoy, jueves, su oposición a la serie de sellos emitidos en México con la figura del personaje de caricatura Memín Pinguín, con el argumento de que "los estereotipos raciales son ofensivos".
Los sellos presentan una serie de dibujos del personaje, de raza negra y retratado con rasgos exagerados, como unos labios muy gruesos.
Creado en la década de 1940, Memín Pinguín, muy célebre en México, es objeto de burla de los personajes blancos en las tiras cómicas en las que aparece.
En unas declaraciones hoy, el portavoz de la Casa Blanca, Scott McClellan, indicó que, aunque la emisión de sellos se trata de un asunto interno mexicano, "los estereotipos raciales son ofensivos, no importa cuál sea su origen, y el Gobierno de México tiene que tenerlo en cuenta".
